The Updated You’ve Been Waiting For

Why hello there Skynet! (I hate all of you) So you’ve probably all been wondering “What the fuck is this Serious server?” or “Okay Burn you fucking bitch, when will this shit be up?”. Well I am here to answer those questions and provide updates since this project has been a long time coming.

Back Story

The original Serious SCP-RP was created by Crimson and Scar, I want to thank them (even though they might not see it) for creating this and giving me help along the way. SCP-RP serious was created to be different then the mingy, cringey, and all those other words then the Semi server. Here at Serious instead of having VIP or joining random jobs that you probably have little to no experience with, you must be trained and whitelisted. Yes, while VIP may give you access to some jobs (and those jobs are still being sorted out by Dark Space and I), all jobs require some degree of training, with some required an hour on how to do that certain job. But the special thing about Serious in my opinion is the independence of it all. Instead of having a vote to be a leader position for any type of faction, the leaders (RP wise) handle the server themselves with some to little staff guidance. Take example for Security Chief. The Security Chief has a huge responsibility, they control most if not all Security personal inside the Foundation on the server. The Security Chief must make sure that all Security personal are trained and prepared to do anything (RP wise), this differs from the MTF Guard Leader on Semi, as in the Security Chief doesn’t have the problem of no one listening to him and Mic Spamming while their Security personal scream “ADMIN THIS CUNT IS FUADSFNISFGIHASGSED” and so on and so forth.

Updates

Now time for the Updates. So I have been keeping players on Serious in the Dark for a long time now. That’s because there were a ton of script, lua, darkrp……everything was fucked up, the reason why was because we didn’t want someone to see it and say “guys serious will never happen it’s so broke.” But with the help of Nekon, William, Serious Staff Members and others, we have been able to fix serious to the point of releasing soon. While I did say we will release the beta version, there has been great strides in progress that we will probably release the full version. So what’s different than the old version? Well for starters, there won’t really be an MTF. Since the map we are using has no Surface but only Gate A and Gate B, we are having a job called Security Agent to patrol those gates and the secrets outside. Instead of MTF being called in to deal with a massive breach before everything goes Code Black, we now have NTF or as they are more commonly known as Nine Tail Fox. We also have TRU or tactical response unit having more of an active role, instead of just collecting dust. There is no longer a GOC (in my opinion we never needed it, they were waaaaaaay too OP). We are downsizing the CI. In our plans, the CI will be able to be applied for, but it will be an Event Class. Meaning you just can’t flag up and wonder around as that class. We are also making minor changes to the Security Personal. While they still work in the original way, we are editing the loadout quite a bit. We have an upgraded weapons called Warface which have better graphics and are more professional then M9k. We will be intergrading Warface with the already in place CW.20.

An Updated Map

As some of you may know, we are using a map that the creator designed to be closely related to the game SCP:Containment Beach. With this in mind, the creator of the map put in something special. What we hope will be a great experience and actually bring a Serious RP is SCP-079. While on Semi, SCP-079 is controlled by a player, this is not the case for Serious. SCP-079 is a map entity that controls the map in some ways. If you were playing as a D-class and had the goal of escaping (lol good luck), you have three choices, one kill yourself and just end it all, two escape to Gate A, or three escape to Gate B. What makes SCP-079 so special is that he controls Gate, if a D-class Personal wishes to escape to Gate B, that D-class must first do steps to reach that goal. 1. Turn off the remote door control if you wish to speak to SCP-079. 2. Speak to SCP-079 who will instruct you to turn on the remote door control system. 3. Turn on the door control system and SCP-079 will thank you and unlock Gate B for you. Moving on from SCP-079, our elevators are now teleports in a way, instead of breaking down like Semi’s does, it just teleports you to the other location. We also have an SCP-939 area, but with the current player model Semi and Serious has, we will hold off on using that area for that certain SCP. For now it will be used as an event area. We now have more updated containment chambers. We now have containment chambers for: SCP-066, SCP-096, SCP-939, SCP (idk the bell thing) and that one SCP that follows you and can’t make you sleep.

The Setbacks

I talked about errors being fixed earlier in this update, but we still have some we need to fix.

Here’s a list of the sort of problems we have but currently are fixing

1. Job loadouts and Jobs in general

a. Okay this is my fault, I deleted a little line of code and now William has to fix it. ;-;

2. Sound Files

a. So we have different commands that can be used, as in SCP Alpha Warheads, NTF command speaking, the volgun announcement system. Currently we have a solution to some of them, but I am currently looking for the Volgun announcement sounds, if have any that would be a great help.

3. Tab menu

a. I don’t know about this one, William did something (as usual) and it broke. But he says he fixed it (hopefully)

4. Group Permissions

a. So we had to wipe ULX and reset it, now we are setting up permissions for all the ranks, Nekon is currently helping me with this one.

5. Spawning in Weapons

a. So William uses a STEAMID system that only allows approved steamids to spawn weps, we’re getting that changed for Serious.

6. Spawning in props

a. This goes with the ULX permissions, currently fixing now.

Updates to Come

So those are some of the errors we are facing, but should be fixed soon. But here are the things you shall see updated in the near future

3. A Big Research Document

4. Applications for SCP’s, Researchers, and Security Staff

More are expected to come.

Projected Release Date

Now we don’t have an exact date on when we will release this, but our projected release date is in July when mostly every Gmod player will be looking for something cool.

Disclaimer: it is unknown at this time the status of people who paid for VIP on Serious a long time ago, we are going over that with William and Nekon. We cannot guarantee that your whitelists will remain since some of those may have been revoked, or lost. And no Globru, there will be no Sans custom class, I swear to god if you even suggest it….so help God.

Anyways I should be done with the updated rules soon. I'll send you a copy when I am.

Also I don't really see a problem with the loadouts and weapons for most of the classes besides adding a voice amplifier to the higher ups

Unless you have already fixed the prop spawning, I once made a small 5-7 line script that stops people spawning shit based on ULX ranks. I can change it to work with permissions.

Burn does 079 only open gate b or does he open gate a and gate b but only says gate b

To open gate A you only need to turn off the remote door control. After you do that you can go speak to 079 and then turn the remote door control back on and he will open gate B.

Yea, it's taken a long time but now all I got to do is Perma prop some more stuff and setup administration ranks which I can do in a day. Then it's just helping Burn get the last of the jobs fixed, and then posting some stuff on the forums and we should be done or nearly done.
